Saint Michael

Remake of an old piece made 3 years ago :)
Originally inspired by Dominum Mundi, a book from Francois Baranger.

"In a near future, after a devastating nuclear war on Earth (the One Hour War), the Christian Church is once again the dominant power. One million crusaders aboard the spaceship Saint Michael are en route to Alpha Centauri to reconquest the real tomb of Jesus Christ found on a planet inhabited by heretic aliens!"

Pretty good book :) Very interesting mix of Medieval and Sci-fi.

I made the basic geometries in Maya and used different displacement maps to add details.
I also added a bunch of render that I didn't take the time to paint over..
